  13. This is only a pre-liminary suggestion from several list-subscribers, you
  14. may naturally decide not to vote on a certain issue and find a different
  15. method of accepting "whatever standard is being discussed".
  16.  
  17. However the justification for voting has come up because it appears that,
  18. as a natural consequence not everyone will agree with the initial proposal.
  19. In order to get an issue resolved, this might be necessary. However if most
  20. list-members feel that there has not been enough discussion to warrant the
  21. voting of the passing of a certain proposal, then there shall be a vote
  22. accordingly for that as well.

  24. If the proposer of said proposal wishes to make a vote he should email:

  28. to pass the proposal, idea, suggestion for the vote, this voting issue will
  29. then be sent to the list, it may be a little cumbersome but I believe 
  30. it is the most satisfactory solution.

  32. As usual I am always open to new suggestions, if you don't like this method
  33. please email me at ysiu@lexicor.com, we can then always find a solution as
  34. to what may be best.

  36. The voting will then go to:

  40. with the content of either NO or YES (since we should only have one issue
  41. voted for in the gem-list it matters not that the server knows what issue
  42. is voted on) or ABSTAIN (which may conclude that the issue should still be
  43. discussed, maybe).

  45. The results wil be posted on the list, with the members who voted YES/NO
  46. and ABSTAIN (with respective email addresses) listed in the results, 
  47. this method is necessary so we can avoid any troubles regarding a complaint
  48. of possible misconduct, or bad vote count, every subscriber who voted on
  49. the issue should please double-check if the results where the ones he
  50. decided for, mistakes can happen! This is the best way to check if he or she
  51. passed the vote they wanted too.

  53. Please do NOT send to the list for voting, send it to voting@lexicor.com,
  54. the procedure should be automised and you should receive some kind of
  55. verification from the server as to your vote.

  57. Only list-subscribers should be eligible to vote, as only they
  58. theoretically know what is being discussed, and have or have not
  59. participated in discussing for or against it.
  60.  
  61. In order to pass a vote for YES or NO there should be at least over 55% of
  62. subscribers voting in favour or against. If a proposal does not get passed
  63. with over 55% voting YES or NO then it is an unresolved issue still that
  64. requires further discussion.

  66. This is still a very preliminary suggestion as to how-to-vote, and I will
  67. implement it if it is agreeable to you (ilst-members), if you object to it
  68. please email me at ysiu@lexicor.com (as this is an issue not directly
  69. related to gem-discussion) and we'll decide on how to get this going to
  70. everyones satisfaction. If the discussion gets to become so large via email
  71. about how-to-vote I will be more than willing to discuss it in a private
  72. mailing list regarding gem-list-admin stuff :)
